This Grand Concert-sized acoustic guitar features a solid spruce top and solid birch back and sides for a tone that maximizes the middle ground between boxy and roaring. While Buck's earliest fans will remember a similar acoustic on episodes of Hee-Haw, this Harmony model has endured in popularity and is also known for Pat Smear's use of a Buck Owens on Nirvana's seminal Unplugged performance. The tone of this guitar has a real richness and percussive cut, with midrange bark and great projection. Bass notes are bold and focused, while the top end has ideal snap and cut without being brittle.

These guitars record particularly well too. Weighing 4lbs 6oz and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Buck Owens is ready for stage and studio use with a fresh set of 12-53 strings. The neck has a full and chunky baseball bat C profile carve with tons of shoulder and heft, measuring.

975 deep at the 1st fret and. The original slender frets are understandably flawless on the bound rosewood fretboard, given the new old stock nature of the instrument. The scale length measures 25 1/4 with 14 frets clear of the body and 19 frets total. The nylon nut measures 1 3/4 in width. The headstock retains the original tuning machines with immaculate chrome plating and white pearloid buttons.

The headstock overlay is a vintage replacement, included with the guitar in a separate envelope also from Buck Owens Enterprises, as these veneers have a tendency to degrade over time. The new, official Buck overlay was professionally installed and tops off this like-new instrument.

All braces on the body have been inspected and are secure, and the original rosewood bridge sits flush with top on all edges. The adjustable saddle has room for adjustment, and the original neck angle is ideal.

The transparent mottled tortoise pickguard sits flush with the top, and the 1971 date stamp and separate model stamp are visible on the inside back of the body, viewed through the soundhole. The finish is stunning and bright, unfaded and bold with saturated colors. Ight, light finish checking on the sides and neck heel, with sparingly little checking on the top and checking isolated to the lower bout edge and waist on the back. The original cardboard box insert and brown butcher paper wrapping has also been retained.
