This dial should be left "AS IS" and not retouched or repainted and that a simple. Gentle cleaning only should be determined by an experienced Watchmaker with experience in dial cleaning to remove surface grime only. Lloyd Amsdon, co-director and founder of the vintage watch e-tailer Watchfinder. Also, regarding the dial; RODICO Green Puddy is often the preferred material used to remove things like grime & some amounts of patina, improving the dials appearance considerably without harming the dial itself.
One could be quite surprised at how good a dial can look; almost back to its original state! Again, consult with a Watchmaker with dial cleaning experience when it comes to a simple dial cleaning and Do Not attempt it yourself. I would certainly recommend a cleaning & lubrication and after that, wear it occasionally, wipe it down clean with a jewelers cloth and put it away in a safe place for another day of enjoyment! Along with Images pretty much says it all!
While I Do Not address timing accuracy on the Vintage Watches I sell, I do go to great lengths inspecting, researching and describing each timepiece to the best of my ability. Each and every timepiece I pass on is thoroughly wiped clean with a fresh Jewelers Cloth so as to remove any oils or contaminants from its surface. Make sure to check out our other listings.
